The Outlander fandom got a HUGE and, in my opinion, long overdue surprise on June 1st!

On “World Outlander Day”, the 25th Anniversary of the book’s publication, Starz revealed that Outlander had been renewed for - get this - not 1 but 2 more seasons! These new seasons will cover writer Diana Gabaldon's books 3 and 4 -  “Voyager” and “Drums of Autumn”.

We are now nine episodes into Season 2 with four more to go. Then “Droughtlander” will begin again. But our loss is the cast and crew’s gain. They are all on a well deserved break to relax and pursue other projects. Caitriona Balfe has an independent project coming up with her friend Simon Kassianides called “Trust No One." Tobias Menzies is shooting “Underworld: Blood Wars” with Kate Beckinsale. Sam Heughan hinted at a few things in the works for him at the Jibland convention in Rome last month. He has also been mentioned in some media outlets as a somewhat long shot to play James Bond. Ron Moore is producing a new series called “Electric Dreams: The World of Philip K. Dick.” Last, but not least, writer Diana Gabaldon is busy at work on her untitled book 9.

Here’s another exciting event coming up - Emmy nominations! Voting begins mid-June and the nominees will be announced July 14th. In 2015, the show, Balfe and Menzies all received Emmy nominations. This year, there is more buzz about Heughan’s work with hope that he will receive a nod, as well as a repeat nomination for the others. All have done outstanding work this season and truly deserve to be recognized.

In the meantime, we get to enjoy the remaining four episodes of Outlander Season 2 with the knowledge that we will see a whole lot more of Claire, Jamie and many new and exciting characters over the next 2 years!
