A new Approach For Old Designs

We have created a web site feature entitled, "The Vault". Over time, products with decreased interest will be stored into the vault and will no longer be a currently offered product. To purchase an item from the Vault would then cost as much as 50% more due to the fact that they are no longer a regular product. We considered several different strategies for how best to respond to items that simply weren't regular or frequent sellers any more. We hate to permanently remove a product, yet we were finding that some items were almost costing us money to produce due to the fact that with long times between orders for them, they were becoming more difficult and time-consuming to produce.

Will items put into the vault ever return as regular products? In some cases they may, it really depends on customer demand. If only 2-3 people ever want it to return, then no. In all fairness to us, that's simply not enough interest to offset the expense of keeping the staff knowledgeable in how to produce them, maintain inventory of the product-specific materials for it, etc. Otherwise, it stays in the vault and costs extra to purchase due to the increased costs in producing an item that we're no longer familar with. We realise that in specific cases this will be disappointing news, but we feel that using the vault concept is preferable to permanently removing a product altogether.

What items are scheduled to go into the vault now? We have recently created on our web site a section called "The Vault" and listed in there are the designs that are already in the vault. Currently, this is only the Divinity Reloaded. There are a number of designs that are scheduled to be entering the vault soon though. They are the Mentor Trench, the Mentor Reloaded, the Leather Mentor Reloaded and both the Alexander Trench and Alexander Custom. We are giving everyone a 30 day window until MAY 4TH to order these items at their original prices before they are put away into the vault. So, if you've been planning on buying either of these designs, now is the time to get them.

So, what other designs will go into the vault? Beyond the above products, we're tossing around two or three others as possible future vault residents. Ultimately, the intent for the vault is to retire designs that are reaching the end of their lifespan. In most cases, our customers will be more excited about upcoming designs than older ones that they're no longer interested in. Obviously, strong sellers won't go in there. For example, if we were to put the Lobby Reloaded or the Stampede Duster into the vault, then we would expect a large public outcry, but the vault isn't intended for products that are very popular! If any of the currently scheduled Vault items are on your favourites list, place your order before May 4th to obtain the pre-Vault pricing!

Spring has sprung in many parts of the country and with the gradual return of warmer weather comes the return of the Spring and Summer convention season. Many fan conventions both large and small will be taking place in the coming months and with that will come an increased demand from AbbyShot as fans turn to us for the best in convention apparel. Whether you're planning to attend a convention and want to guarantee that your AbbyShot coat will arrive in time, or you aren't a convention attendee and simply want to beat the pre-convention rush, this may be a golden moment to buy that special garment. We're preparing ourselves for what the convention season will bring as we know that we may get very busy very quickly, so for those who want to get in ahead of all of this we're giving you advance notice so that you won't get lost in the crowd!

The Rocketeer Jacket is almost here! The release version of the Sienna Sand leather is here and we have the photoshoot coat sewn. We're going to have the photoshoot done soon and then it will be available for purchase! Check out the picture to see a closeup of it to get an idea of the quality we'll be offering.

We'll be releasing the Rocketeer Jacket in two versions. There will be a premium screen-accurate edition which will have every feature and every detail reproduced as faithfully as possible. The other version will be called the Jet Jacket. This has all the same structural stylings as the premium Rocketeer Jacket, but omiting some of the more technically involved design details. This is a more streamlined version designed for people who appreciate the basic look of the Rocketeer Jacket, but don't require every screen-accurate detail. Both the Rocketeer Jacket and the Jet Jacket will be available in black leather as well as the brown Sienna Sand leather, and both versions can be ordered with or without the front flight panel.

Prototype Made, Release Version Next!

The anticipation for this design rivals that of the Rocketer Jacket! Fans are lining up and the excitement is contagious! We have the pattern nearly completed for this one and a sample garment in pleather has been sewn to allow us to do any last minute tweaking. You can see in the pictures that not every feature is completed in this prototype. The prototype is unlined and doesn't have snaps or the shoulder bells attached. Already you can see the specially ordered Riri zippers on this jacket, providing superior closure for this vintage design. Upon the recomendations of the fans, we're looking into using black plastic for the shoulder bells. Another fan suggestion has been that we should also recreate the gloves worn by Mad Max. What does everyone else think?

While we don't have a precise release date for this one yet, it is clearly not far away. We're now going to be making a fully featured version in black leather in preparation for a photoshoot prior to release. Check out the prototype pic to get a sense for what the finished product will look like. As always, as further progress is made we will be reporting back to everyone.
