AbbyShot meets Silent Bob in Texas
|
Snoogans, LunchBox... whatever you call him, Silent Bob is short on words and big on style. His trademark overcoat, previously unavailable, is NOW ready to order from AbbyShot as an exclusive, lisenced product!
Earlier this month, Agent Foran went to Wizard World Texas to meet with the guys from View Askew and show them AbbyShot's version of the Silent Bob Coat. Here's an excerpt from his report...

With my badge freshly pinned to my shirt I walked towards the convention center entrance where two burly men stopped me dead in my tracks. They directed me to a line that stretched the length of the building, the adjacent parking lot and then some. This, so I was told, is not unusual for CON's. In less than twenty minutes, I am inside and I go directly to the Graphitti Designs / View Askew booth. It's a 40x40 booth perimetered by tables displaying every kind of merchandise you can think of, including dozens of signed items. Behind the tables is a 10x10 stand which served as an inventory house for all of the merchandise and a temporary 'office'.

I set up the coat, complete with sign. It looks perfect.. the design and production team at AbbyShot have done a great job!! On the table in front of the coat I stack several dozen bookmarks and fabric samples - which I continue to restock throughout the 2 days. By the time I set up everything it is almost 11:00am. I make my way to the concession booth in the main hallway. I wore my black outfit and Lobby Trench, in part to stand out from the crowd and in part to be recognizable as someone from AbbyShot. Kevin Smith is walking down the hall with his friends/entourage.
I shout, "Kevin, the coat is in your booth!"
He replies "What?"
"I'm Patrick Foran.. from AbbyShot. Your coat, it's in the booth."
"Come with me." he says.
I cram my food into my pockets and follow the posse. Within minutes, I have Kevin's attention in that little inventory room I mentioned earlier. I produce the original coat from my suitcase and I show him our version. He was thoroughly impressed with our accuracy to the original; he even commented that the color of the fabric was very close.
It would become obvious to me (by the crowds gathered around booth) that our entrance had not gone un-noticed. I had enough time to show him the mini-version of Silent Bob's coat. Kevin would soon have to see his fans.

AbbyShot meets Blade II Director Del Torro
|
Another excerpt from AGENT FORAN's report on Wizard World...
...I made my way to the Wizard Theatre where Guillermo Del Torro (director of BLADE II and the upcoming HELLBOY) was speaking about his new picture and answering questions. The room was filled to capacity (400 people) and there was a steady stream of questions. This was the highlight of Wizard World for many comic book fans. HELLBOY is a comic book character (created by Mike Mignola who was also there) with a very strong following. My initial reaction to the trailer shown at Wizard World was that this movie will be very big when it arrives in April 2004. With a budget of 61 Million, it has cool special effects, a strong script, a talented director and most important of all, a COOL TRENCH COAT worn by the lead character.
Following the Q & A session, Mr. Del Torro and Mr. Mignola hosted an autograph session in an adjacent room. This gave audience members an opportunity to speak one on one with the creators of HellBoy. I waited in line for nearly an hour (while wearing a Lobby Trench and holding a Sunstalker). When I got to the front of the cue I presented the Sunstalker and my business card to Mr. Del Torro.
"Hey! It's the guy who makes the Blade coats!!" the exuberant Mexican shouted. "I've been to your website! Man, that stuff is cool!" (editor’s note: He had seen pictures of AbbyShot forum member 'Blade' in his full outfit, and followed a link to Abbyshot.com. Way to go Blade!)
I couldn't believe it! This is one of the most important directors in the sci-fi horror genre and he knew about AbbyShot! Very quickly the conversation turned to the HellBoy poster he was signing, and he asked if AS had considered producing HellBoy’s trench coat...

Check out the HellBoy Poll on AbbyShot’s forum and let us know what you think! Should we make a Hellboy Trench?
