| The Time Is Right...
|
 Greetings AbbyShot Fans and welcome to another month's worth of cool news! Right now (this very moment!) it's a good time to be a sci-fi fan. A new Doctor Who has just premiered (to rave reviews), the anticipation is building for Iron Man 2 next month, and there's even a rumour that Joss Whedon is directing Marvel's upcoming "Avengers" film! It's like the sci-fi planets are aligned... ;) So what better time to invest in the coolest sci-fi inspired gear on this planet (or any other)? AbbyShot has plenty of treats for you this month including the re-release of the Foxhound Coat in all sizes, an intriguing new contest, and some fun convention photos where you can see our coats in action. | Sci-Fi on the Rock... Rocked! |
 The whole AbbyShot Team had a "blast" at our local sci-fi convention on April 17th and 18th: Sci-Fi on the Rock! The licensed Doctor Who and Serenity clothing got a ton of fan adoration ( especially since AbbyShot team member Mark was decked out in full Tenth Doctor regalia!), and the team enjoyed the chance to chat with fans face-to-face. There were great costumes (including mini-Daleks, full-size Jedi, and those Yip-Yip aliens from Sesame Street), celebrity appearances (actors from "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" and "Star Wars"), and of course - plenty of photo opportunities! Our favourite part: Watching fans try on AbbyShot gear. It's always fun to see people's faces light up like it's Christmas morning - there really is no feeling like slipping into clothing from AbbyShot! If you couldn't make it to Newfoundland for the con (and even if you WERE there) then we've got a treat for you - a full album of convention photos is up on our Facebook page! GIG Shrug Spotted at an Awards Show Red Carpet!
|  AbbyShot enjoys being on the edge between fandom and fashion, so we were excited to see a true fashionista wearing our very own GIG Shrug at a recent awards show.
It was at the JUNO Awards, Canada's national music award show, and Fashion Television host Jeanne Beker was among the red carpet arrivals. As it turned out, she was only too happy to pose for pictures in her AbbyShot GIG Shrug!
That is what you call a 'Kodak moment'. ;)

New Photo Contest: Looking for Look-alikes!

A new contest is launching with this Newsletter where you  don't have to be an AbbyShot customer, but it helps ;)
We're seeking out the best look-alike - someone who looks like a character tied in to a current AbbyShot product.
Think you can look like the Tenth Doctor? Or Mal Reynolds? Or Wolverine? Or Silent Bob? Or Motoko Kusanagi? Or Rick Deckard? (And the list goes on!)
Then send us your best look-alike photo and we'll let AbbyShot fans be the judge! We'll accept your photos up to May 17th and then announce the nominees in the May Newsletter. Fans will then vote for their favourite photo on our Blog and on Facebook and we'll announce the grand champion in the June Newsletter.
The prize? $50 CAD off any AbbyShot product over a value of $150 CAD!

| "Can't Stop The Serenity" Needs You to Misbehave This Summer! |
 AbbyShot is proud to be a sponsor of Can't Stop The Serenity (CSTS) 2010. It's a charity event organized each summer by Browncoat groups all over the world (currently in 37 cities and counting!) and it combines two wonderful things: donating to charity and watching "Serenity". Not so bad, is it? ;) CSTS helps a whole host of charities with most of the funds raised going to Joss Whedon's favourite charity called Equality Now, founded to promote and protect the human rights of women around the world. Cool Site of the Month: ScyFiLove.com
|
 The blog "ScyFiLove.com" first popped onto our radar after the release of the Tenth Doctor's Coat. And how could it not with writing like this? The article was entitled "Why I must have Abbyshot's David Tennant Doctor Who coat" and here's a quick excerpt: "So when I happened across the Abbyshot website - almost by accident - the squeeee valve in my brain started sounding like a factory klaxon and hasn't stopped since."A few months later we just had to check in with this blogger, xxNapoleonSolo, to get the update. He gave us the honest truth, that his geek money had been spent elsewhere, but you never know what the future may hold! Either way, AbbyShot can heartily recommend ScyFiLove as an entertaining blog for any Doctor Who or sci-fi fan, with recent entries including an interview with "Blink" star Finlay Robertson on the upcoming return of the Weeping Angels and a hilarious entry about why a Dalek holding a cup of tea may be the best Doctor Who picture ever ( "I COULD EXTERMINATE A GOOD CUP OF TEA!!"). |

You'll recognize customer Tim from the Foxhound Coat model photo in the Group Buy article above. Tim and photographer James Williams took the Foxhound Coat to the beach in Lulworth, Dorset, UK for some wild (yet scenic!) photos. You'll also see customer Tal from the US sporting a full Motoko Kusanagi costume featuring (of course) the GIG Shrug. She and friend Pip took some "action movie" style photos that look like they're right out of a live-action Ghost in the Shell film! |
