Here's a quick roundup on several different fabric related developments.
White fabric: We're investigating the possibility of offering some of our designs in white. We have a lightweight white fabric that may work well, however we're waiting for some matching white lining to come in so that we can test them together. White fabric all by itself won't work, the seam allowances would show through. It's our hopr that a white lining will prevent this. We'll let you know how this turns out!
Lustresuede: Several people have asked us if we could start offering this fabric. We're currently looking for a supplier that can provide us with a high quality lustresuede in a bolt size and in quantities that will suit our designs. If we can achieve this then we'll offer this fabric option. At this point, we have no idea if this is still available as we haven't used Lustresuede for about four years.

This is just a quick note to let everyone know that as soon as we clear off the current batch of coming soon products, the very next two designs to be developed will be the Mobil Ave. and Malice Mizer Trenches.
We have hardly ANYTHING to report yet, as they don't even qualify to be "Coming Soon" items yet. The only thing I can show everyone this early on is a technical design sketch that was done for the Malice Mizer. It will be this sketch that the pattern itself will be based on when we actually begin work on it as a Coming Soon product.

The Malice Mizer technical, prettied up a little.

Get The Goods Faster Than Ever Before!
We are constantly improving our manufacturing processes at AbbyShot. Right now, we are at an amazing 3-4 week turnaround time on our orders! This means that orders placed now will leave here before the end of next month. We fully expect that this situation will change once the demand increases as we move through the Summer months and it will definitely be gone by this Fall. Now is the best time to order a garment and be assured of receiving it quickly! Why wait till October when our turnaround times could possibly be 6 to 8 weeks due to the pre-Christmas rush? Going to a summer convention? Dragon*Con is in early September, don't wait till July or August and risk not getting your garment in time! Take advantage of these swift production times while they last!!

So close you can feel it on your back!
Take a look at the latest round of pictures of the Alucard Trench. The pattern is now officially finished. We're simply waiting for a shipment of the crimson red fabric to arrive and we'll start taking orders! In the meantime, we present you with a full suite of different views of the coat, showing all new details!
The Alucard Hat is also made from the same fabric. The design for this has seen several revisions, the brim has been made in several sizes and the width and height of the crown have also been modified, all in an effort to find the best balance between real world wearability and screen-accuracy. We're making great strides in both the design and our methods for making this hat. We're hoping to release the hat at the same time as we release the coat.
The Alucard glove design has received a minor adjustment to some of its dimensions over the first version, however it was pretty much spot on with the first prototype. The only remaining hurdle is finding a method of putting the full design on the back of the glove that is both economical and will look good when done. After all, we don't want to double or triple the price of the glove with the design alone, and we also don't want it to look cheap either. Of course, we realize that not everyone will want the design on the back and so we will also be offering it in a plain version as well. Lastly, we will be offering this in a black leather version, however until we have finalized on the method that will be used to apply the design we won't know if the black version will be able to include it or not.
As always, more on this project as it develops. We were almost ready to release it this month, so stay tuned for a special release announcement any week now!

Two reasons to want to win!

Make your first purchase this May and you could win a Kingdom Hoodie!
|
|
AbbyShot is running two promotions for the month of May. We think that they will be of interest to many of our fans and customers. The first promotion is our "Take The Plunge" promotion. This is aimed at those of you who have been wanting to buy your first AbbyShot garment for a while now, but simply haven't finalized your decision. Being the merciless teasers that some of you know us to be, we've decided to entice you even further. For the Month of May 2005, all first time AbbyShot customers will have their name entered in a draw for a free Kingdom Hoodie!

Buy from AbbyShot again and you will get a guaranteed 10% discount on your order!
|
|
Now, before all of our current customers start feeling left out, we have a promotion for you called "My Next Coat" that is specifically designed to reward those of you who have bought from us before. All repeat customers who make a purchase in the month of May 2005 will receive a 10% discount! Of course, this would apply to a total order, no matter how many items are in that order.
Now, there is a loophole in all of this: If you manage to qualify for both promotions in May, your name will be put into the draw AND you'll receive the discount! Yes, we realize that if you qualify for both promotions you could be mobbed by an angry crowd of jealous customers, but that's a risk we're willing to take! :-)

Just the way you want it.

We're overflowing with big snaps!
|
|
Our shipment of big snaps is here and available for purchase as an option for both the regular Stampede Duster and the Leather Stampede Duster! As you can see from this picture, we have quite a number of them in stock and they are noticeably larger than the regular snap!

Big snap is where it's at!
|
|
Check out this "up close", comparison picture. These snaps are seriously different. For starters they're bigger! We're talking twice as wide here! Secondly, they're much darker. They are a true glossy black, perfect for creating the look you asked for!

By popular request!

Check out our prototype! (made in brown pleather for testing only)
|
|
So in our March Newsletter we asked if people wanted us to develop the vest worn by Zoe on Firefly..., Whoa! What a response we received! Talk about opening the floodgates!! Okay, so there's a "tiny" bit of a demand for this one!! :-) Since we're likely to get lynch-mobbed if we DON'T make this one, we decided to move quickly on it. After all, we know that there's a certain movie release coming up where a lot of people will be wanting to wear this item! ;-)
When we release this vest, it will be made in both brown and black genuine leather. It will also be available in a range of sizes, plus the side straps will allow the vest to be further adjusted to fit your specific body type. The prototype shown here is made from a brown pleather fabric and does not yet have the buckled side straps that we'll be using. We'll be releasing updated photos as we approach the release date.
So, the only questions left are when and how much! Well, we're hoping to release it in mid to late May or early June at the latest. This is deliberately intended to coincide with the release of the Serenity Browncoat. As for price, we're not completely certain of that just yet since it is still under development, however we're hoping for a $200 to $300 USD target price. Once we know what the price will actually be, we'll announce it here and in the Serenity Zoe Vest Coming Soon Page on our web site.

Voice Your Opinions Now!
After trialing this idea in our last issue, we realized that we were on to a good thing! We are going to be routinely featuring a selection of popular suggestions in future issues of our newsletter. This month we have several designs that we feel have some potential. For each suggestion we want to hear what you think! Is it worth making? Would you buy it? Let us know, it's your time to speak up! :-)

Foxhound Coat
This is a design worn by several characters in the computer game "Metal Gear Solid". It's stylish and unique without looking "costume-like". The game is very popular, now the question is would people want to wear the coat as well? Let us know!
|
|
Divinity Top
The pvc top as worn by Trinity in the first Matrix movie. This would be quick item for us to develop if the interest was there. If this something that you want to buy? Let us know!
|
|
|
Kill Bill Motorcycle Jacket
The movie "Kill Bill, Vol 1" features an extremely distinctive yellow leather motorcycle jacket worn by the leading character, "The Bride". This item has many different features in it that make it stand out from a standard garment. This can be developed by us if the response warrants it. Interested? Let us know!
|
|
Alexander Anderson
This guy is one of the major "bad guys" from Hellsing. His grey trench with it's distinctive purple trim would be quite a wearable garment that in a similar fashion to the Divinity Top would be relatively easy for us to develop as a new product. We've gotten a number of requests for this one and would be an intersting compliment to the Alucard Trench. So, any takers? Is this a design that people want? Let us know!

Angel Coat
We've received a lot of requests to make the coat worn by the Angel in the TV series Angel. However, he wore several different coats. Some were leather, some were fabric, some were full length, some were 3/4. Plus, each design has subtle distinctions, be it in the shape of the lapels, the number and spacing of buttons, type and placement of pockets, etc.
So, review the five designs below and vote for the one you prefer. We'll report the poll results in our next newsletter. Also, if you have some specific comments to make about whether or not AbbyShot should make an Angel jacket, Let us know!
Design One

This is 3/4 length and is made of black leather, note the sharp angle of the lapels.
|
Design Two

This 3/4 leather design is similar to Design One, but the lapels are shaped differently and the sleeves don't have cuffs.
|
Design Three

This leather design is almost identical to Design Two, but the lapels are much smaller.
|
Design Four

This design is identical to Design Two, except that it is in fabric and we're pretty sure it is knee length like Design Three.
|
Design Five

This design is different from the other four. It's between 3/4 and full length, looks to be made of wool and the collar is totally different. It's also a much more relaxed fitting garment, notice the loose fit around the torso and in the sleeves. If this one were to be made by AbbyShot, it would probably work quite well with our Italian Wool.

Now place your vote for the design that you think is best. Also, if you have any comments, Let us know!
